History
William Bradford
Smith, a local attorney and his wife, Leila Marchman Smith, a music teacher,
built the stately southern structure in 1913 as their private home. Mr. Luther
T. Rogers was the builder. The cost of the home in 1913 was $3,900. The home
was a private residence until 1967. However, as ownership of the home transferred
out of the Smith family, it was converted to a boarding house and later, offices.
In 1999, the previous owners purchased and renovated the historic Smith House to its original state with only a few modernizations for comfort. As soon as renovations were completed they opened and operated this historic home as a Bed & Breakfast for 4 years.
The new owners and innkeepers, Lyle and Janis Lewis are the 4th owners of the Smith House and are excited to have the opportunity to use it once again as a Bed & Breakfast. The Windows Inn invites you to experience period furnishings, several original light fixtures, claw foot bathtubs with showers and much more.
